Dominican School Mission

This summer I will be going again to the Dominican Republic in late July to help start a NEW Project for a Church / School building in a different town called — Bani. As participants we are again asked to seek help with the cost of construction, etc. and for this I ask for your help in raising the $1,500. Special envelopes will be at the back of the church for the next few weeks and I am very thankful for any amount you are able to donate. (All cash / cheques will be handled and tax receipted by St Mary’s). With your help we will finish this new church / school over the next couple of years and be able to increase attendance for the underprivileged children. THANK YOU for your continued support!

Financial Update – May 2012

We are pleased that envelope offerings for the four months ended April 30, 2012 are almost 7% over last year. We are optimistic that at this rate whole year offerings will be on budget for the year. Thank you for your continued and generous financial support to St. Mary’s. As we approach the summer season when envelope offerings may slow down due to people being away, we would greatly appreciate it if you could make every effort to sustain your offerings over the summer in proportion to your whole year commitment. Envelope Offerings for the four months to April 2012 are:

Actual: $72,454; Budget: $79,500; Actual v Budget: ($7,046); Variance: (8.9%).

Actual: $72,454; Last Year: $67,929; Actual v Last Year: $4,525; Variance: 6.7%.

We ask you to consider converting to Pre-Authorize Payment (PAP) offerings if you are on the envelope system; see the church office for forms and to initiate the change. PAP smoothes St. Mary’s cash flow, simplifies cash accounting, and make things a lot easier for everyone.

ACW Potluck

This year’s annual ACW Potluck Supper will be held on Thursday, May 24 in Wrixon Hall. All ladies in the congregation are invited to attend. We ask each person to bring either a salad or main course dish or dessert. Also, pack your plate, cup and utensils. We try to keep this a low maintenance event. Join us at 6:00 p.m. for punch and socializing. Dinner will be set out for 6:30. After dinner we will have a short meeting and then our guest speaker for the evening will be our own Ruthanne Ward. We look forward to an evening of food, fun and fellowship.

Parish Health Ministry

The 12 participants in the Walkathon raised $757.50. It was a cool but sunny morning. A good time, good exercise, and a healthy breakfast was enjoyed by all. We also met new friends from St. Matthew’s and Holy Trinity. Also, please note that there are health-related articles posted on the bulletin board on blood pressure control, concerns about proton-pump inhibitors, prostate cancer treatments, Alzheimer’s, and seminars on mind health.
