Confirmation provides an opportunity to affirm the vows made on our behalf at Baptism. It is an episcopal office and generally takes place either when the Area Bishop visits St. Mary’s or at diocesan Confirmation services at St. James Cathedral in downtown Toronto.
The rites of Reaffirmation and Reception are also sometimes celebrated at Confirmation services. Reaffirmation is opportunity for those wishing to reaffirm their baptismal vows, if they have already been confirmed. Reception can be a significant step for those coming into the Anglican Communion from other Christian denominations, including the Roman Catholic Church.
Confirmation preparation is required and offered periodically by our clergy for adults and youth over 12 years old.
Four candidates were confirmed on Sunday, April 19, 2015 by the Rt. Rev. Philip Poole, Area Bishop of York-Credit Valley at St. James Cathedral. The next opportunity for Confirmation, Reaffirmation, and Reception will be announced here.
